I am an applied mathematics researcher interested in wide variety of scientific areas. I began my career in machine learning and navigation research, specifically designing mathematical models to identify structures in homing pigeon flight paths. Since then I have done postdoctoral research in collective behaviour; how animal groups move together and make collective decisions, and computational social science; creating and applying new mathematical tools to infer the dynamics of societies and the preferences behind individual choices that create social structures. I am currently focused on understanding and improving collective cognition, and how collective intelligence can be used to better organise human society
